LEGISLATIVE
UPDATE
Certain
Desperate Congressmen
Scrambling for Arctic Refuge Drilling Legislation
This past March
both houses of Congress released their annual budgets. The
Senate predictably and unwisely included drilling in the
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in their budget, while the
House took the bold, commendable stand that the Arctic
Refuge will not be put on the auction block for Big Oil.
Seeing that the divisive issue was all
but dead, pro-Drilling Congressmen have been in a frenzy
trying to find any place to shoe-horn in legislation that
would allow drilling in the Arctic Refuge. Last year
Alaska Senator Ted Stevens help money for our troops
hostage and was soundly defeated. What new low will they
hit this year?
While it is uncertain what vehicle the
pro-drilling Congressmen will choose, it is sure that they
will again foolishly attempt to deceive the American
people with tales of falling gas prices, free money and
energy independence, none of which more drilling anywhere
in America will provide us.
Thankfully, the American
people and the Arctic Refuge have champions in Congress
who will fight to keep the Arctic Refuge Drill free. With
your support we will continue to lead the fight to protect
the Refuge in 2006 and beyond.
